The Belden House, a long-term residential home for adults aged 18 - 59, welcomes referrals
of clients who have either an acquired or traumatic brain injury, resulting from the following type of circumstances:
- Accident trauma
- Stroke/cerebral vascular disorders
- Brain tumor
- Lightning strike/electric shock
- Anoxia
- Seizure disorders
Recent medical and psychological reports must be made available upon referral. During the admit process, each individual
is assessed by our Intake Coordinator to determine their compatibility with our program and our compatibility with the client's
needs.
The Belden resident is typically an individual who is medium to high functioning, gets along reasonably well with others,
is able to communicate adequately with those around them, is generally non-aggressive, able to eat on their own, ambulate
stairs (at least while using the railing on either side), and is not wheelchair bound (This is due to the fact that the Belden
House is an historic, three story Victorian).
