Belden House is staffed with a team of individuals who end up being not just employees,
but part of the Belden family. It's difficult to work at the Belden House and not feel yourself become a part of something
that is much greater than an eight hour a day job. As the Administrator, I see this every day when I watch our employees
take a personal interest in the lives of the residents. I love to see the creative energy flowing as a Belden staff person
comes to me with their own ideas on how we can further enrich the lives of the residents. I always welcome this type of input
because it perpetuates the excitement and gives our employees a feeling of ownership in the workings of the home.
Our staff consists of Resident Assistants; One-on-one Caregivers; a Household Products Supervisor (who tracks our inventory,
plans menus, shops, and cooks several of our meals each week); and our Administrator and C.E.O./President that are on sight
40 to 60 hours a week (Belden House is staffed 24 hours a day with awake supervision).
As we interview our prospective employees we watch for signs of a person with good interpersonal skills, integrity, motivation,
and a real love for people. Our employees are all at least 18 years of age, high school grads, and many have worked in related
fields. They have all passed a criminal clearance, have first aid certification, and our drivers can demonstrate a clean
driving record.
We are very proud of our employees, and are blessed to have such a wonderful team.
The Belden House also contracts out to several professionals and skilled workers who provide specialized services for
us. We have a psychiatrist on call, with whom we can counsel as the needs arise, and who is on site at least once a month,
meeting with many of our residents, and managing their progress. A certified Registered Nurse is available for consultation
and special services. Our gardener comes by weekly to keep our grounds in top shape. We also have a top-notch bookkeeper
who brings to the table the experience of many years working for various businesses in Sonoma County. These, in addition
to the other professionals in the community that we team with on a regular basis (Doctors, Neurologists, Psychologists, Therapists,
Counselors, Day Programs, etc.), allows for Belden House to offer a comprehensive plan of wellness to our residents.
Working with our staff and support team is a great pleasure.
